VThe Birthday Party
The Birthday Party is a collection of children’s portraits. Vee Speers has stripped away the stereotypes of childhood in a far cry from the usual idealisation of the ‘happiest days of our lives’. She reveals the cruelty, vulnerability and duplicity of children. She captures children happy to play with imperfection and embrace the grotesque; children with a sense of danger and disregard for the social expectations of a birthday party smile. The resulting visuals are unsettling, with a transparency that is neither black and white nor colour, and the humanity neither that of an adult nor of a child.
Industrial loft kitchen.

Lunch at IJM Studio.
Stephanie Rammeloo who blogs on Dreamboat lives in Amsterdam and has been out for lunch. Guess where? At Studio IJM! I should have known when I fell in love with the interior. Frank Visser, the stylist behind this studio is truly a genius. Stephanie says in her blog:
The lunch took place in the perfect setting: Studio IJm. This is the studio of Frank Visser, a Dutch stylist, who creates the perfect dream world, in real life and as a set designer/stylist for interior magazines as Elle and Vogue Interior. A self taught artist, Brigitte Niedermair has been working principally in fashion since 2000, composing her photographs as if they were paintings.
Throughout her work, both personal and commercial, she questions the feminine condition. Examining traditions, religions and modernity, and applying this to such subjects as abortion and artificial insemination, she proposes a dual vision between the sacred and the profane, asceticism and eroticism, cutural heritage and emancipation..
