This vast house from the XIXth, which has concerved its horsehouse and workshop, was originally a mirror´s fabric. Transformed progressively by an artist in love of travels, it became a welcome place in the heart of Brussels and an uncommon Bed & Breakfast. Check it out on http://www.chambresenville.be/

St. Bartholomew's Church, Chodovice. Redesigned by Maxim Velcovsky and Jakub Berdych (Qubus Studio), photo from the studio's site. Via Dezeen.
Two Czech designers were given the opportunity to reinvent the interior of a church in the East Bohemian village of Chodovice . The designers write: "The central nave has been stripped of dull repaints and left totally exposed so that visitors can watch the course of history on fragments and details on the wall. Illuminated by chandeliers adorned with pressed and roughly cut crystal, the bare space is dominated by an “army” of legendary chairs designed by Verner Panton with one crucial detail added – a Christian cross carved through the back of the chair. The redesign and religiousness of this design icon is multiplied by its installation on dozens of Persian carpets, which are so typical for Muslim shrines. This space is an eclectic cocktail and a place to ponder, moving us towards cultural dialogue."
Opened in Paris last March, the 16,000 Sq foot concept store, is the new mecca for design and fashion lovers alike. Now in her sixties, Marie France Cohen and her husband have founded yet another brilliant endeavor. Merci is the first “Charity Store” ( or Magasin Solidaire ) in France, it means that 100% of their profit will go to a charity association helping women and kids in Madagascar ( one of the poorest countries in the world ). In an 18th century building in the heart of Paris the Merci store is lavish in its presentation. From vintage (and new) clothing to design furniture to flower shop to coffee shop, where you can peacefully sip your espresso, while browsing the library of magazine and art books, Merci covers all aesthetic grounds
